If you’ve ever wondered just how you build a complete wind farm, supplying enough power for around 105,000 homes, then you’ll love this fascinating time lapse film of the construction of Xcel Energy’s Courtenay Wind Farm in North Dakota.
The whole construction process took 15 months to complete but has been condensed into a far more easily digestible 216 seconds.
The local economy of Courtenay has certainly benefited from their abundance of wind. Not only did the Courtenay Wind farm create around 200 construction jobs, there are also some 10 full-time jobs since its completion 25 months ago.

A great film, and it was especially amusing to see the man with his construction hat running alongside the cable trucks lifting the 150 miles of cable into the air so the machine could plough it deep into the bowels of the Earth.
Now that’s a job that takes strength. Try keeping your hands in the air for hours on end in a hot sun..
