Salt Is In Everything – And Now Microplastics Are Found In Salt

A number of studies conducted around the world in recent years have concluded there is now no doubt that microplastics have found their way into the world’s sea salt – one of the most basic ingredients in our food production system.

The most common of these microplastic ingredients found in salt is polyethylene terephthalate – a material used to make many of the world’s plastic bottles and sometimes referred to as ‘the World’s most useful plastic’.

One thing is sure, the sea and the abundance in foods and food products from the sea that humanity has enjoyed for millennia may not be something we will be able to take for granted for much longer.
